On this 31st day of October, we are only three days away from the 2020 General Election. Alabama has seen the largest number of early voters in its history with over 220,000 ballots being returned as of this week. This surge reflects a national trend — over 75 million U.S. voters across the nation have voted early.
If you haven’t voted yet, you still have two ways that you can cast your ballot. Absentee ballots must be postmarked OR hand-delivered to your county’s absentee election manager by Monday, November 2.
Alabama voters who did not vote by absentee ballot can vote in-person on Election Day on Tuesday, November 3. Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your typical polling location may have changed. Verify yours now.
If you plan to head to the polls this Tuesday, we want to make sure that you are aware of your rights while voting. Here are some major things to remember:
- If the polls close while you’re still in line, stay in line — you have the right to vote.
- If someone attempts to interfere with your or anyone’s right to vote, it may be voter intimidation and a violation of federal law.
- If you make a mistake on your ballot, you can ask for a new one.
- If the machines are down at your polling place, you can ask for a paper ballot.
