Background: House Bill 94 proposes the creation of at least one early voting center in every Alabama county. The early voting centers would allow registered voters to cast their ballot during the week prior to Election Day.
Our Position: We support HB 94. The ACLU of Alabama is committed to increasing access to the ballot. This bill would extend access to the ballot to many voters that are unable to make it to the polls in our current practice of a single Election Day. In-person early voting centers will also encourage the tradition of civic engagement through voting by expanding early voting opportunities.
