The state of Alabama is making it difficult if not impossible for birth centers to survive. Over two-thirds of Alabama's counties have little to no access to maternity care. The state also has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the U.S. We're taking the Alabama Department of Public Health to court.

We filed a lawsuit in Alabama challenging ongoing actions by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), which have imposed a de facto ban on freestanding birth centers throughout Alabama, preventing three such birth centers from providing much-needed pregnancy care to their patients.
