This bill would prohibit the issuance of business licenses without proof of E-verify for employees.
This bill would require any person:
- who applies for a business license or permit from a municipality or county, and
- who employs one or more persons
to prove enrollment in and use of E-Verify prior to the issuance of a business license or permit.

This bill was introduced by Senator Orr on February 4, 2020. It was assigned to the Senate Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development committee where it was passed out on March 11, 2020 with an amendment. It has been sent to the Alabama House floor and is now pending House floor action.
