This bill would deem body camera footage as not a public record and deem that such records should only be disclosed if:
- a person whose image or voice is in the recording makes a request,
- a personal representative of an adult whose image or voice is in the recording makes a request with the consent of the adult,
- a personal representative of a minor whose image or voice is in the recording makes a request with the consent of a guardian,
- a personal representative for a deceased person who image or voice is in the recording, or
- a personal representative of an adult person who is incapacitated and unable to provide consent to disclosure.
Status
This bill was introduced by Rep. Stringer on March 3, 2020. It was assigned to the House Judiciary Committee and is now pending committee action.
