This bill would prohibit license suspensions for unpaid fines and fees in certain circumstances. This bill would not include individuals who have unpaid child support due to federal requirements for Department of Human Resources (DHR) funding.

It was sent to the Alabama House and carried over on the House floor on March 10, 2020. Amendments, which are needed due to federal laws that allegedly stop funding to key state departments if fines are not collected, are gutting the bill and limiting the circumstances in which this bill could apply.
